When Seth Connely (college friend, music advisor extraordinaire, and now Manager for Gym class Heros) first let me listen to the promotional copy of this record and turned on the track  Timourous Me I almost lost it.  By this record now… The 1st track biomusicology will blow your mind..

Someone please concur.

Fiery Furnaces Vs. Radiohead...

In 2004 when the Fiery Furnaces’ Blueberry Boat collapsed college and indie music charts I made a bold statement.  Blueberry Boat is either the single most genius record, infused with  true intense beauty and musical significance that has an almost tale telling, rock opera like composure and the world at large is just to stupid to understand, or It’s a total disappointment and I am just to pretentious to admit that.

After an interesting article I read revealing Matt Friedberger’s, the other half of the Fiery Furnaces husband, wife duo, true feelings about Radiohead, his then misconception about a meaning of a Radiohead song and then his jumbled response at a somewhat statement of apology,  is making me think twice about the artistic value I once associated the Fiery Furnaces with.

Also it has come to my attention that once you hit a certain creative status that is good but could never transcend an artists like Radiohead or the Flamming Lips or the Arcade Fire you just start to hate them.  It’s almost like if you can’t beat ‘em, hate’em more.
